On Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th September, Mill Street will come alive with music, family activities, theatrical performances and light displays as Perth Theatre and Concert Hall invite the people of Perth to celebrate 125 years of entertainment in the city!
The evening show will see top-name acts, rising stars and familiar faces plus community participants present one spectacular performance repeated over two nights across three live stages.
Glasgow glam-pop band Walt Disco leads an evening line-up that spans the spectrum of artforms that generations of audiences have enjoyed in the venues.
With their debut album garnering nominations for the Scottish Album of the Year Award and perform at Glastonbury, Latitude, Austin City Limits, and SXSW festivals, opening for iconic acts like Simple Minds, Duran Duran, and Primal Scream.
Despite their local connections, in the shape of Perth-raised guitarist Lewis Carmichael, 125 Live! marks a Fair City debut for the band.
Further acts performing on the 125 Live! music stage include Skye trad and electronic duo Valtos and exciting young Perth indie band Parliamo.
Dynamic Perthshire piper Ross Ainslie will be joined by The Sanctuary Band – 20 years after he performed at the opening of Perth Concert Hall, and there’s a Scottish debut for globally celebrated Scottish singer-songwriter and DJ Jack David.
Spectacular big band That Swing Sensation will jazz things up on the big band stage, while musical theatre stars Hannah Howie and Matthew Tomlinson will be joined by students from UHI Perth Musical Theatre course for an uplifting set filled with everyone’s favourite show tunes.
Perth Theatre’s workshop team will be building in some theatrical surprises for audiences to encounter along the way!
Drop into King Edward Street between 12 and 4pm for Gig On A Truck sets from The Apologetics, Blackford Fiddle Group, Bohemian Monk Machine, The Crom, Fair City Singers, Mad Ferret Band, Perthshire Brass, Sprog Rock, Tayside Big Band, Perth Concert Hall Voices and more.
Free family activities to enjoy in Perth Theatre and Concert Hall include Nudge Puppets workshops, Soundplay Dome and Neon Eight’s VR Theatre. Patrick Ashe Magic Show and Surge Community Street Theatre will entertain the crowds on Mill Street.
Beatles for Babies in Perth Theatre’s Joan Knight Studio, an interactive music and theatre performance with music by the Fab Four will be guaranteed to raise a smile with little ones and their grown-ups.(Beatles for Babies is a bookable event and priced at £8 for 1 adult + 1 baby)
As the sun sets over the city, the surrounding buildings will form the backdrop for spectacular laser displays by award-winning Scottish Creative Director, Stage Designer and Lighting Designer, Will Potts.
Catalonian visual artist and creative coder Alba Corral will tell the story of the venues through projection including archive images from Perth Theatre.
Also, for that proper street party experience, there will be food stalls on site, and a bar service will be available from both venues.
