Music Junk Modelling

Calling children aged 5-11! As part of this year’s Summer Reading Challenge theme, ‘Read To The Beat‘, join us at Pitlochry Library for a special music-themed junk modelling session! Get hands-on and let your imagination run wild to make amazing musical instruments out of junk and household items!

Under 8s should be supervised by an accompanying adult.

Summer Reading Challenge 2026

The 2026 Summer Reading Challenge, “Read to the Beat!”, is a free programme for children aged 4–11. It invites children to read six books during the summer holidays, with a fun theme around music, sound, and stories. 

Families can sign up at any Culture Perth & Kinross library. Children will receive a challenge pack, collect stickers as they go, and earn a certificate and medal when they finish.

The challenge supports children to keep reading over the summer and feel confident and ready for the new school year.
