From July onwards, Perth and Kinross is set to become a giant playground of sport, activity and fun with hundreds of free sporting opportunities for children, young people and families.

Whether you're looking for something to keep the kids entertained, want to spend more time being active as a family, or fancy trying a new sport yourself, you’ll find everything from Aqua Fun to 3v3 Basketball, swimming sessions to badminton courts.  

Available in all 11 Live Active Leisure venues across Perth and Kinross, the focus is on getting active, trying something new and having fun with family and friends.

What are you waiting for? It’s time to get moving, try new things and make the most of the months ahead. Will you discover a hidden talent? Maybe you’ll find a new hobby. Or perhaps you’ll simply have a great time. However your summer plays out, do it for free with Live Active Leisure!

Dive In with Free Swimming For Under 16s

Fancy making a splash?

Young people under 16 can swim for free at all Live Active pools, available every day during the summer and October holidays. No booking necessary, however please check the venues timetable prior to visiting for up-to-date swimming times.

It includes Perth Leisure Pool Swimming Disco, Aqua Run and more. 

Sportshall Basketball

Play Together

Free access to sports halls and community facilities will help families spend quality time together while keeping active. 

Families can choose from badminton, 3v3 basketball, pickleball, short tennis and boccia. Available every weekend at selected times, from Saturday 4th July 2026 to Sunday 28th March 2027.

Sportshall sessions can be booked online or via the Live Active app up to 7 days in advance.

Pre-School Sessions

Jump, run, throw and play! These free fun filled sports sessions will help littles one aged 18 months – 5 years build confidence and develop skills all through exciting games and smiles!

Sessions are available at locations throughout Perth & Kinross, during the summer holidays.  Sessions must be booked in advance.  For more information and to book visit Preschool - Summer of Sport - Live Active.

ASN Sessions

These inclusive sports sessions are for children and young people aged 5-18 years with Additional Support Needs.

These sessions are all about fun, confidence and being physically active during summer. The sessions will be led by Live Active Leisure coaches, and the activities will be adapted for everyone to make friends, be active and have a good time!

Sessions take place at North Inch Campus and Glenearn Campus throughout the summer holidays. Sessions must be booked in advance. For more information and to book go to ASN - Summer of Sport - Live Active.

About Summer of Sport

Perth and Kinross received £323,000 through sportscotland's Summer of Sport programme to support accessible sporting opportunities for children and young people from summer 2026 through to March 2027.

The programme will help deliver initiatives including free swimming for under-16s, and free family access to sports halls and activities. Designed to reduce affordability barriers to participation, this great campaign is open to everyone and will run during school holidays from Summer 2026 to Easter 2027.

Summer of Sport FAQ's

The programme is primarilly aimed at children and young people, with activities typically tailored to different age groups. Some sessions may be suitable for families or specific age barackers, depending on the activity and venue.

Activities vary by location but may include swimming, badminton, boccia, basketball, multi sports, short tennis and pickleball.

There is no need to book for swimming, however all other sessions must be booked in advance as places are limited. Bookings can be made online or via the Live Active app.

Sessions are delivered across all Live Active Leisure venues in Perth & Kinross, including leisure centres, sports halls, and swimming pools.

All activities are free as part of the Summer of Sport funding from sportscotland.

Participants should wear suitable sports clothing and footwear. For swimming activities, swimwear and a towel are required. It’s also recommended to bring a water bottle.
