Museum of Abernethy

The Museum of Abernethy celebrates the rich history of Abernethy in Perthshire, once capital of the Southern Picts. - our aim is to preserve as much as we can of its varied and extensive history.  We were opened by Magnus Magnusson in 2000, and last year we had a bit of a party to celebrate our 25th birthday - visit us to learn about Picts, Romans, kirks, witches, spuds, and the occasional ghost! The Museum also records the history of local people, and is building a photo archive of the village, its people, and the wide range of industries which it supported in days gone by.

We hold the key for the famous Abernethy Round Tower, one of only two in Scotland, and the only one you can climb up - the views from the top are fantastic!
