Calling all young adventurers - there’s so much free activity for the whole family to take part in this Easter. 

We invite you to an exciting two-week extravaganza celebrating the grand reopening of Perth Museum. From crafting mythical creatures to encountering ancient characters in the city centre, and even meeting real unicorns at the Unicorn Experience, it's a whirlwind of creativity and fun. Join us for Amazing Animal Storytime, a Mythical Animal Creative Writing Workshop, and a Unicorn Dance Party to cap off the festivities. Book in advance and treat your little ones to a world of magic, imagination, and pure joy this Easter season!


Mythical Beasts and Other Creatures   

Saturday 30th March // 1.30pm // Perth Art Gallery // Free, drop-in  

Pop along to this exciting craft afternoon at Perth Art Gallery and explore the theme of mythical beasts and other creatures. Dragons, unicorns, monsters, and kelpies. What’s your favourite? Suitable for all ages. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. 


Blast from the Past  

Saturday 30th March - Sunday 31st March // 11am – 4pm // Perth City Centre  

As you wander through the city you might notice some ancient characters, ask them where there are from and find out more about their time and what you can find on display in the new museum. 



The Unicorn Experience  

Saturday 30th March; 12-4pm // Sunday 31st March; 11am – 4pm // Outside Perth Museum // Free  

In honour of our debut exhibition, we have invited some real unicorns along to join the party. Don't forget to share your photos with us #PerthUnicorn.


Amazing Animal Storytime

Do your little one’s love listening to stories? Join us in Perth Art Gallery as we take you on a story time adventure featuring some of the animals from the collections. Suitable for children ages 3-5. All children must be accompanied by an adult. 


Mythical Animal Creative Writing Workshop  

Thursday 4th April // 11am // Perth Art Gallery // Free, donations welcome  

Create your own magnificent mythical creature at this fun creative writing workshop with children's author, Lindsay Littleson, author of Guardians of the Wild Unicorns. Suitable for ages 8 and over. 


Light Art  

Saturday 6 & Sunday 7 April // 12pm // Perth Art Gallery // Free, drop-in  

Hannah and Amanda are hard at work creating a fabulous fluorescent unicorn. Pop along and add your own design to this community art installation which will remain on display in Perth Art Gallery until Sunday 14 April, and help create the backdrop for our Unicorn Dance Party. Suitable for all ages. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Mythical Beast ‘Flip Flap’ Book Workshop for Families  

Thursday 11th April // 11am // Perth Art Gallery // Free, donations welcome  

Join illustrator Esther Kent to create colourful imaginary creatures and make your very own 'flip flap' mythical beasts’ mini book to take home. Family workshop for age 6 and over. 


Unicorn Dance Party   

Sunday 14 April // 1.30pm – 2.15pm // Perth Art Gallery // £10 adults & £8.50 under 12s   

Melody and Luna are two sparkling unicorns who need your help to find some new unicorn friends.  They have decided to throw a party and they need you to join them as they dance along to some of their favourite songs and hope that the unicorns, they are looking for turn up. Families are invited to come along, clap their hands and dance their hearts out in this interactive show.  It’s a party you don’t want to miss!  Dressing up is encouraged. Suitable for families. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
